Simone Mendez in the Air Force in the early 1980s

Transcript for this Episode

Paul Carr welcomes Simone Mendez, whose contact with what appeared to be an official document detailing detection of extraterrestrial spacecraft when she was in the US Air Force caused her several months of grief and resulted in the loss of her Top Secret clearance.

Here we give Ms. Mendez a chance to tell her story and set the record straight. Her story  turns out to have many unanswered questions.

A statement for listeners from Simone Mendez:

After the audio was released, Ms. Mendez e-mailed and asked if I could make public the following statement.

I regret having kept the ufo printout, and having believed the providing co worker.  I know exactly what you listeners are thinking of that.  Just as it was derogatorily repeatedly made known to me in no uncertain terms, over the years, by certain ufo enthusiasts and online commenters.

I have a reason, that is not an excuse.

In the year 2018, I see and know the truth about me, of 1981.

I would rather not publicize (in medical vernacular,) a condition.

I am an Autistic person, which I was not awake to that fact, until my mid 40’s.

We types tend to latch our focus onto one thing, with mental blinders on the sides.

I was naive and socially inept, and my then-unacknowledged condition also did not help me on polygraph exams.

If I could go back in time knowing what I know now, I would never have entered the service
